Asia Argento is an Italian actress and filmmaker who came from a large family of both. She's pursued the two fields of work for herself. The actress made her debut at the age of nine years old, in the film of Sergio Citti, Sogni e bisogni (1985). In 1988 The Church, a film by Michele Soavi The Church was directed by Michele Soavi and she played the role of Cristina Comencini's Zoo. She played Nanni Moretti's daughter the following year for Red Wood Pigeon (also directed Moretti) (1989). Close Friends, written and directed by Michele Placido in 1992, was the film that launched Asia's career off. As she grew older, playing girl roles, she went on to more complicated and mature roles. The film received a great reception in the Cannes International Film Festival. She's made three films with her dad, Trauma, The Stendhal syndrome and Phantom of the opera. The Phantom of the Opera is the third time she has collaborated with her father. The others are Trauma as well as The Stendhal Syndrome. Giuseppe Piccioni's Condannato a nozze showed Asia's absorption manner in performing. She portrayed Arianna in Carlo Verdone's Perdiamoci di vista, a role in which she was so intricate that she earned the David di Donatello award as the most outstanding actress. Patrice Chereau was her director in Queen Margot, where she was a major character. She also starred alongside Michel Piccoli as Traveling Companion in the film Peter Del Monte. This performance earned her a David di Donatello (for the top actor) and a Grolla in Oro. Asia began directing for an occupation in the year 1994. The first film she directed was Prospettive. A documentary she created about her dad and then Abel/Asia (1998), a film that was awarded a prize during the Rome Film Festival, were the two films she produced between 1996 and 1998. Asia began directing her first feature film in 1999 with Scarlet Diva (2000). She was also the main actress, and the author of the film's script. The movie was released globally in the month of May. The film was released on Brooklyn, New York it was awarded an award at the Williamsburg film festival. Anna Lou was born in 2001 following her directing several music videos. In 2002, Asia starred as Jean-Marc Bar's co-star The Red Siren (Olivier Megaton) as well as Vin Diesel was the star in Rob Cohen's thriller The Action. Asia also wrote a few short stories that have been published by a number of magazines.
